October 26, 2007 - Were Back and Growing!

Wow - it's been a while huh? Sorry about that! I started back up to work and since then don't have much free time to spend on the computer. So much has happened since the last blog. Kyra, Bobby and I went to Chicago so that Kyra could meet her family there. She did so good on the plane, no fussies. She also did very good traveling. She even started sleeping through the night. We got to meet our new cousin Maggie, who is about 4 weeks younger than Kyra. Contrary to how she appears in the picture, we really do love her! She also got to finally meet Bobby's nieces/nephew, who just couldn't get enough of her.

Next, we went to a Kiddie Halloween party at Michele and Alivia's house. All the Northwest Missouri mama's were there. Kyra was the cutest little caterpillar I've ever seen!
Megan came in town to visit and brought Kyra the cutest little outfit - all with matching Ugg's - so cute!! We really loved getting to see her again - and miss her already!!
Kyra just continues to amaze us every day. She loves to "talk" and giggles often. She's now rolling over and is wanting to sit up. She's also mastered the "walk", see the cute video below showcasing her walking abilities. She's definately a go-getter, she doesn't enjoy just sitting around, and LOVES the bouncer still. Her favorite activity by far.
I hope this finds you all well. I'll continue to post updates more regularly, I promise.

October 12, 2007

Hello everyone - Well we've officially turned 2 months since the last blog - as of October 4th. Oh how time flies!! We had our 2 month doctor appointment and for all you moms out there you know we had to have our first round of shots. It wasn't too awful - she just criend for a moment then settled down. I think mommy cried as much as she did :) She's up to 11 lbs and 13 oz. so is obviously doing well in the feeding area. We made it to the Northwest Missouri vs. Pitt State tailgate at Arrowhead for a couple of hours. She really behaved herself, and slept much of the time. Grandma and Grandpa Urquhart came and got her so that Mommy and Daddy could enjoy the game.
Not much else to report at this time. I've posted some new pictures and a cute video of her in her "Rainforest Jumperoo" (Thanks to all my Deloitte KC friends!!! She loves it!)

Funny story for you...

When I was approximately 7 months pregnant with Kyra, I was traveling from Jersey to KC and had a layover in Nashville. I was flying Southwest so I was sitting in the "A" line, making sure I got a good seat. I look back at my line and to my surprise there was Neil Smith, legendary Hall of Famer KC Chiefs defensive end, just a couple of people back from me. I think I was the first to recognize him, as no one had approached him. So I got the nerve up to ask his autograph, but I thought I'd ask for him to sign it to Kyra. He was really a nice guy and signed it for me.

Then last night we had dinner with my parents at Amor de Brazil, a new Brazilian Steakhouse in Overland Park. This restaurant is partly owned by Neil Smith, but I really didn't think much about that. Well to our surprise, there he is.....Neil Smith. Dad had the waiter ask him to stop by so that Kyra could meet the man who signed his autograph before she was born. He was nice enough to stop by and chat for a couple of minutes and let us take a picture with him. He then told us to bring the picture back when we get it developed and he'll sign that for her as well. What a cool guy!!

I've posted that picture and a few more for you to enjoy!!

September 10, 2007

Hello All - Not much to update other than she is just growing and growing. It's amazing how fast time flies and how much she can change in such a small time. She is now sleeping better in her crib alone. We definitely have days that are better than others, but we still have nothing to complain about. She's still a very good baby and doesn't pose too many challenges for her mommy and daddy. We took our first bath and she loved it. Much better response than we got from the sponge baths.
I've posted some updated pics here for you to enjoy. Also, you can watch a video that I've posted for you showing her beautiful smile!!

Welcome Kyra!!

Introducing Kyra Christine Nelson

She was born August 4th, 2007 at 9:04am. She was 7 lbs. and 13 oz and was 19 inches long.

She has been just a pure joy. She rarely cries, and if she does, it means she's hungry. We are working on getting her comfortable sleeping alone. It's been a slow process but we are getting better.

As of August 17th, she's up to 8 lbs. it's amazing how fast the time goes and how quickly she grows.

Bobby and I are so proud and we will be updating this website often, so please come back and check it out!!
